Our Acoustic line is almost entirely custom made and it is decidedly at the forefront of “electric instruments”. The soundboard of Alter Ego electric violins has the potential for infinite acoustic possibilities and it has the added advantage of flexibility of design, which allows for adjusting each acoustic instrument to the musician’s personal handling style.
Alter Ego is not an instrument corporation, but an artisan luthiery and our electric acoustic violins are the result of years of Italian craftsmanship and experience in violin design. Our instruments are entirely handmade in order to assure you the best quality sound, timbre and acoustic resonance.
We offer many options to our customers, including the possibility to choose between different types of electronic set-up and due to our collaboration with the best string manufacturers, the 5-string violin with a low C provides a clear and distinct sound. Both the 4-string and the 5-stringed instruments are available in a left-hand version with a comfortable left-handed chinrest.
Each and every electronic amplification component, from the pick-up to the preamp, is specifically created with complete precision and attention to detail. This has allowed for uniting the advantages of the “electric violin” (feedback solutions, no background noise, plug & play, durability, customizability and more) to the qualities of the traditional violin that there is no substitute for. It weighs exactly the same, with the same balance and neck form to provide immediate comfort and handling ease, as well as a traditional violin sound and tone color.
The uniqueness of our violin design lies in its innovation, in the functionality of the controls (which frees the musician of the need for sound engineers) and above all the balance of the fine-tuning provides acoustical resonance without the traditional sound box or resonating chamber.
It is impossible to compare it with a Yamaha silent Violin because they are totally different types of instruments (solid body and electronic sound for Yamaha / sound box and hi-fi amplification for Alter ego. Yamaha is preferred by pop musicians and Alter Ego by Classical, Jazz and Blues artists).
